As a result of our environmental initiatives, Crace has been awarded the Housing Industry Association (HIA) Greensmart accreditation –the first community in Canberra to achieve this. HIA Greensmart Accreditation recognises that the Crace Masterplan includes a host of environmental elements. These include optimising the solar orientation of blocks, minimising the impact on the natural features of the land, innovative water-sensitive urban design by capturing roof water to sustain street trees, and minimising the environmental impact during construction and locating every home in the urban precinct within 400 metres of a bus stop.
Crace is the first suburb in Australia to be developed with consideration of its climate change impacts, and will offset the emissions resulting from land development through an innovative partnership with Greening Australia. Crace is also leading the way by letting you choose to offset the greenhouse gas emissions during the construction of your home through Greening Australia’s Breathe Easy program. Now that’s a change for the better.
