More than 500 Canberrans visited Crace on Sustainable House Day last Sunday to witness sustainability in action and to learn from the masters how to make their home greener.

Representatives from Crace’s builders panel were joined by environmental and building experts from James Hardie, the Home Energy Advice Team and the HIA, to share their knowledge and advice on how to save energy, keep costs down and make a difference to our environment.

Architects Nick Pelle from Oztal Architects and Tony Trobe from TT Architects provided design tips and advice, while major suppliers, including Clear Solar, Southern Plumbing Plus and Branco Boilers and Engineering, rounded out the sustainability dream team with information on the right products for those renovating or building a new home.

“The Demonstration Village was a hive of activity and buzzing with ideas and information,” says Crace Project Director Ian Dawkins.

“2010 was our first foray into Sustainable House Day and we will definitely be back again in 2011 to present even more information and advice with our expert partners.”
